Eddy Current testing (ET)

Eddy current testing is based on the current of induced currents in an electrically conductive material.

This method is used in the production and maintenance industry.

The most important applications are: searching for possible defects that may affect the mechanical strength of a part, but also measuring the coating thickness or checking the quenching depth, ...

The absence of surface preparation, the absence of a coupling and the high control speed (up to a few meters per second) are the strengths of this method.

The fast damping of eddy currents makes this technique suitable for shallow depths.

The main application of this method is the heat exchanger for which all pipes must be inspected.
